On Tuesday February 5th, 2013 we got up at 6:30 am and started our day. Iori left for the Hospital where she works and I started researching material for my next book. Iori returned home at 6:00 pm and we ate a quick dinner, grabbed our suitcases and dove to the airport arriving at 8:00 pm. We caught a flight to Tokyo that took almost 3.5 hours and connected to another plane that headed for Hawaii and flew for 6.5 hours…..we then arrived in Hawaii at 3:30 pm Tuesday February 5th, 2013, not only the same day we left but actually 5 hours before we flew out of Naha, Okinawa. We caught another flight in Honolulu and flew to Hilo arriving at 4:30 pm. Flying East and crossing the International Date Line resulted in us gaining 24 hours and flying East almost 4,000 miles gained us another 5 hours. We caught a cab to a hotel in Hilo and by 6 pm we were ready to find a good restaurant and have Tuesday dinner again! Somehow Jet-lag doesn’t sufficiently describe the mental condition resulting from jet travels. A better term would be: Post flight partial posterior paralysis and flight induced mental fogginess. We did have a good time that evening and sleep came easy that night. If you have never seen Hilo, it is a beautiful small town located in the Rain forest side of the big Island of Hawaii. Yes it rained every day, it’s a rain forest! The sun came out every day between the squalls.
